Recorded at The Creche (aka home 1997-2010), Middlesbrough one Saturday night in February 2000. Final mix June 2001. Assistance from Michael Baines.

Recording inspired after reading Milovan Srdenovic's liner notes for Greasy Walter & The Razors (aka Ceramic Hobs) 7" about the drone trend in the underground experimental music scene at the time. See main picture.

I was (and still am) a fan of a lot of droney music but had never done anything like that myself and I basically recorded this as an experiment to see if Milovan was right - is it really that easy? - and yes he was right - without any major effort or real skill whatsoever I created what was instantly deemed a drone masterpiece by pretty much everyone who heard it!

I will add more about the recording process soon which I purposefully did as minimal as possible letting the drone play itself and my hands on involvement was just the careful placing of microphones and basic eq settings before recording and then all mixing afterwards with the assistance of Michael Baines.

This was released under my own name mainly because I honestly couldn't think of a suitable name for it and I still can't! I like how absurd it seemed releasing this under my own name when I don't actually 'play' anything on it!

"A wonderful swarm of guitar* drones. Like being a grub eating honey in your hexagonal cell and listening to the rest of ther hive go about the day." (* not guitar drones!)
(Robert Hayler, FFR/oTo)

"The pick of the bunch. A drone so thick you could stand a spoon up in it. Never lets up and becomes more intimidating as it progresses". (Mark Wharton, from JG#7)

"REALLY beautiful - just seems to hold you in ecstasy for the duration. The most beautiful drone in the world!".
(Paul Harrison, Fiend Recordings)

"Some of the best drone music I've ever heard.".
(Simon Morris, Ceramic Hobs)
