about

Unreleased tracks from the same session as the split 7" with Hard To Swallow.

Recorded at Studio 64, Middlesbrough winter 1996. Mixed at Trinity Heights, Newcastle spring 1997. Mastered by Nathan Stephenson at Studio 64, Middlesbrough summer 2006.

These 4 tracks were originally going to be released by an American label as a split LP with Non Compos Mentis (feat. ex Confrontation drummer Steve Kerper - RIP), then as a self-titled 10", then ... ?!?!

The more time passed without any news it became obvious nothing was ever going to happen so ex-members considered any release cancelled, tracked down the label owner and after a further 18mths or so of 'real mail' communication finally retrieved the DAT master tape and artworks back just in time to be digitally mastered on 6/6/6 (!) by Nathan Stephenson back at Studio 64 not long before it closed forever and just under 10 years since the tracks were first recorded there!

The new plan was to release the tracks as a split LP with John Holmes, a similar styled band feat. 2/4 of Manfat which had released 2 albums by this point, but this was also abandoned after John Holmes decided to split. So in the end, 10 years after being recorded, the tracks were eventually just released without any fanfare as a free mp3 download via myspace, messageboards, etc.

At one point the original recording reel was also being sought as it contained 2 more tracks, new versions of 'Pigfood' and 'Weedeater', recorded in the same session but never mixed.

The line-up was Bri : vocals, Dale : guitar, Ian : bass, Michael : drums (who now play in bands such as Drunk In Hell, Goatspeed, Pellethead, Jaded Eyes, amongst others).

N.B : the artwork pictured (by Richard Thomas) was originally for an earlier recording which was nearly released as a split LP with Rupture (!) but which had also fell through! The French label concerned was a known crank. 'Pigfood' was instead released as another demo cassette.
